AquaIllumination Orbit Series Cross-Flow Pump

The AquaIllumination Orbit Series is a premium range of controllable cross-flow pumps designed to create broad, natural and powerful water movement in marine, reef and freshwater aquariums.

Unlike standard directional wave pumps, the Orbit produces a wide cross-flow pattern that helps move water across a larger area of the aquarium. This creates a more natural circulation pattern, helps reduce dead spots, keeps detritus suspended, and improves nutrient transport for corals and filtration.

The Orbit series is controlled through the Mobius app and is also compatible with the myAI app, allowing you to set up, program and adjust your pump directly from your mobile device. It can also be integrated with Neptune Fusion through Apex when used with the appropriate MXM module.

The Orbit includes several flow modes, including constant speed, pulse, random and reverse flow. The reverse function allows the pump to change flow direction, helping to create more turbulent movement and assist with lifting detritus from the aquarium.

The AI Orbit 2 is the smaller model in the series and is best suited for smaller to medium aquariums, generally around 60–100 cm in length, depending on aquascape, livestock and coral flow requirements. It is recommended for aquariums of approximately 20–88+ gallons, has a maximum power consumption of 25W, and is suitable for glass thickness up to 15 mm.

The AI Orbit 4 is the larger model in the series and is best suited for medium to larger aquariums, generally around 90–150 cm+ in length, especially where stronger cross-flow circulation is required. It is recommended for aquariums of approximately 50–120+ gallons, has a maximum power consumption of 45W, and is suitable for glass thickness up to 20 mm.

For best results, position the Orbit to create broad movement across the length of the aquarium rather than pointing flow directly at sensitive corals. Larger aquariums, SPS systems, or tanks with heavy rockwork may benefit from using multiple pumps to create balanced circulation throughout the display.
